The return of Robert Downey Jr. is undeniably a breath of fresh air for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU).
This development also opens the door for other characters previously deemed deceased in the franchise to make a comeback. Recently, Elizabeth Olsen, who portrayed Scarlet Witch, discussed the possibility of her return to the MCU.
Despite the character's apparent demise in "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness" (2022), fans remain eager to see Scarlet Witch back on screen.

Scarlet Witch, one of the most beloved heroes in the MCU timeline, has been absent since "Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness," which seemingly concluded her story with her death.
However, the desire among MCU fans to see her return remains strong. In an interview with FM 104 (via Elizabeth Olsen Updates), Olsen was asked about her willingness to reprise her role.
She responded, "This is a character I would love to play again if there’s a good way to use her. I was fortunate to be used well when I started, but then they didn’t know what to do with me! If there’s a good way to use her, I’m always happy to come back."
Upcoming MCU Projects and Scarlet Witch’s Potential Return
Although Marvel Studios has yet to announce any official plans for Scarlet Witch’s return, several upcoming MCU projects could potentially pave the way for her comeback.
One such project is "Agatha: Darkhold Diaries," which will continue the story of Agatha Harkness following the events of "WandaVision." It has been speculated that Scarlet Witch might be resurrected in this series, given the characters’ connection.
Another possibility is Olsen’s return as Scarlet Witch in the upcoming series "Vision Quest," which is set to be the third installment in the WandaVision saga. With Vision seeking his place in the MCU again, it makes sense that "Vision Quest," scheduled for a 2026 release on Disney+, might set up Scarlet Witch's return.
Given its release timeline, it is plausible that "Agatha: Darkhold Diaries" could prepare the ground for Scarlet Witch's revival while "Vision Quest" explores her expanded role in the MCU.
The Future of Scarlet Witch and the MCU
It would be surprising if the MCU did not feature Scarlet Witch at least once more before the conclusion of The Multiverse Saga.
With "Avengers: Secret Wars" potentially leading to a soft reboot of the MCU, there is speculation that Wanda might be reinterpreted for the upcoming Phase 7 and beyond. For now, fans and the world will have to wait and see if the MCU has further plans for Elizabeth Olsen and her iconic character, Scarlet Witch.
