Canadian rapper Drake, found himself dealing with an unexpected challenge on Tuesday, July 16. The artist attempted to maintain a sense of humor amidst a less-than-ideal situation.
“This better be Espresso Martini,” he humorously captioned a video on his Instagram Stories, showing his home inundated during a rainstorm in Canada.
In the video, an unknown individual dressed in black attempts to close French doors as muddy floodwaters rush in, accumulating rapidly in the room.
The only audible sound is the rushing water as Drake pans the camera down to his feet, submerged up to his mid-calves. Holding a broom, he seemingly tries to steer the water away.

Drake didn’t specify his location in the video, but Toronto, his hometown, has been experiencing severe weather, including flooding.
Environment Canada lifted its heavy rainfall warning for Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area on Monday, July 15, as reported by the Toronto Star. This announcement followed flooding that disrupted the city’s subway system earlier in the week.
The weather agency warned, “Heavy downpours can cause flash floods and water pooling on roads. Watch for possible washouts near rivers, creeks, and culverts.”
The newspaper added that the rain might continue for one more day, with most of the adverse weather expected to clear before the weekend. In 2020, Drake showcased his Toronto mansion, known as “The Embassy,” in Architectural Digest.
“Because I was building it in my hometown, I wanted the structure to stand firm for 100 years. I wanted it to have a monumental scale and feel, It will be one of the things I leave behind, so it had to be timeless and strong.”

Drake’s custom 50,000-square-foot property, designed by Ferris Rafauli, features a 21-square-foot pyramidal skylight above an NBA regulation-size indoor basketball court.
The great room boasts 44-foot ceilings, a bespoke concert grand piano, and a chandelier originally designed for the Metropolitan Opera in New York City in 1963, comprising over 20,000 hand-cut Swarovski crystals. Despite the high-end decor, Drake’s favorite part of his home is his bedroom.
Drake emphasized the overwhelming luxury of his home. “That message is delivered through the size of the rooms and the materials and details of the floors and the ceilings. I wanted to make sure people can see the work I’ve put in over the years reflected from every vantage point.”
Drake’s experience during the flood highlights the unpredictable nature of severe weather and its impact, even on the most luxurious homes. Despite the challenges, his ability to find humor and maintain perspective is a testament to his resilience. Meanwhile, “The Embassy” stands as a monumental and timeless structure, embodying the rapper’s legacy and his commitment to excellence.
