In a new and shocking development, country music icon Garth Brooks has been accused of sexual assault and battery by a former hair and makeup artist who worked for him. The lawsuit, filed by an anonymous plaintiff referred to as “Jane Roe,” alleges that Brooks committed multiple acts of sexual misconduct during the time she was employed to provide hair and makeup services. The incidents in question reportedly took place in 2019, during work trips and at Brooks’ private residence.

The complaint, which was filed in a California state court and obtained by CNN, outlines various serious allegations against Brooks. Among them, Roe claims that during a work-related trip in 2019, Brooks raped her in a hotel room.

She states that the assault occurred while they were in Los Angeles for a Grammy tribute performance. According to the lawsuit, Roe and Brooks traveled together on his private jet, and upon arriving at the hotel, she was surprised to discover that they were booked in a suite with only one bedroom.

Roe alleges that Brooks appeared naked in the doorway of the suite’s bedroom and subsequently raped her. She describes feeling trapped and helpless during the ordeal. In the months following this incident, Roe claims that Brooks continued to make sexually explicit remarks and physically groped her on multiple occasions. The lawsuit also accuses Brooks of sharing sexual fantasies, exposing his genitals in front of her, and discussing his desire for a threesome involving his wife, country music star Trisha Yearwood.

Garth Brooks Denies Allegations, Claims Extortion

In response to these serious accusations, Garth Brooks has vehemently denied the claims. He issued a statement to CNN, asserting that he has been targeted with false allegations and threats for the past two months. According to Brooks, the plaintiff has repeatedly demanded a substantial financial settlement to avoid going public with her accusations.

“For the last two months, I have been hassled to no end with threats, lies, and tragic tales of what my future would be if I did not write a check for many millions of dollars,” Brooks said. He went on to describe the demands as an attempt at extortion, stating, “Hush money, no matter how much or how little, is still hush money. In my mind, that means I am admitting to behavior I am incapable of—ugly acts no human should ever do to another.”

Brooks also revealed that he filed a lawsuit against Roe nearly a month prior, in an effort to combat what he believes is defamation of character. He chose to file the suit anonymously, under the name "John Doe," in order to protect the privacy of his family. Brooks expressed his intention to fight these allegations vigorously, emphasizing that the claims are entirely fabricated.

Jane Roe’s Relationship with Brooks

According to Roe’s lawsuit, she began working with Brooks in 2017, handling hair and makeup for both him and his wife, Trisha Yearwood. However, Roe alleges that the inappropriate behavior began soon after she started working closely with Brooks.

The lawsuit claims that Brooks frequently changed his clothes in front of Roe and exposed his genitals on multiple occasions. Additionally, Roe alleges that Brooks sent her sexually explicit text messages and made lewd comments during work-related events.

The most serious allegations stem from the 2019 incidents, during which Roe claims that Brooks sexually assaulted her both in his private residence and during the Grammy tribute trip to Los Angeles. Roe also alleges that Brooks would often touch her inappropriately and make her uncomfortable with his explicit discussions of sex.

Legal Battle Continues

The legal proceedings between Garth Brooks and Jane Roe are set to be highly contentious. Roe’s attorneys have accused Brooks of attempting to silence their client through intimidation tactics, including the preemptive lawsuit he filed anonymously. According to Roe’s legal team, Brooks filed the complaint in an effort to block Roe from publicly sharing her story.

In a statement to CNN, Roe’s attorneys, Douglas H. Wigdor, Jeanne M. Christensen, and Hayley Baker, expressed their confidence that Brooks will be held accountable for his alleged actions. They stated, “We are confident that Brooks will be held accountable for his actions. The complaint filed today demonstrates that sexual predators exist not only in corporate America, Hollywood, and the rap and rock and roll industries but also in the world of country music.”

Roe’s legal team also praised their client’s courage in coming forward, despite the powerful status of the accused. They noted that her decision to file the lawsuit publicly sends a strong message about the importance of holding individuals accountable for sexual misconduct, regardless of their fame or fortune.

Garth Brooks’ Efforts to Protect His Reputation

Garth Brooks has built a career as one of country music’s most beloved figures, with millions of fans and a reputation as a decent and caring individual. He has long been known for his philanthropy and his efforts to give back to the community. However, the allegations in this lawsuit pose a significant threat to his public image and career.

In his initial lawsuit filed under the pseudonym "John Doe," Brooks argued that Roe’s accusations were designed to inflict irreparable damage on his reputation and career. He stated that the allegations were completely false and that the plaintiff was fully aware of the harm these claims could cause if made public. Despite these efforts, the lawsuit filed by Roe is now public, and Brooks must now contend with the fallout from these serious accusations.
