This fall, as the Victoria's Secret Fashion Show gears up for a spectacular return, fans eagerly await the lineup of familiar faces on the runway.
Among the most anticipated appearances is that of Behati Prinsloo, who recently rejoined the brand after a six-year hiatus. Prinsloo, now 36, participated in the brand's new Dream campaign alongside other Victoria's Secret veterans like Candice Swanepoel and Taylor Hill. However, the question remains. Will she also grace the runway in the iconic fashion show?
Behati Prinsloo's Ambiguous Response
In an exclusive interview, Prinsloo remained tight-lipped about her runway plans, saying only, "We'll see," when asked if she would don her wings once more.
Reflecting on her previous experiences, Prinsloo shared, "Honestly, I always had so much fun at those shows. I have very fond memories of all of it. And the show was such a highlight, I think, for everyone and everyone watching, too. It was so fun."
A Storied History with Victoria's Secret
Prinsloo's career with Victoria's Secret includes walking in 10 fashion shows from 2007 to 2018, featuring a variety of locations and unforgettable outfits. From New York to London, she showcased looks ranging from gold Angel wings to early years' low-rise sweatpants and wedge heels. As a mother of three, Prinsloo has witnessed the brand's evolution and finds the recent changes "exciting."
The Evolution of Victoria's Secret
Victoria's Secret canceled the fashion show in 2019 following criticism over its lack of inclusivity. In response, the brand revamped the format, launching The Tour last year—a live-streamed event featuring familiar faces like Gigi Hadid, Naomi Campbell, and Adriana Lima. This new iteration introduced greater body diversity but left some fans nostalgic for the traditional runway experience complete with Angel wings.
Prinsloo acknowledges the fans' mixed feelings, stating, "I think a lot of people want the runway back and also want it to be different. They want elements that they miss from previous years, but also keep it 2024." Victoria's Secret echoed this sentiment in their May announcement on Instagram, promising a show that reflects the brand's current identity while retaining the beloved glamour, runway, wings, and musical entertainment.
Iconic Memories and Future Possibilities
Prinsloo fondly recalls the iconic moments from her time on the runway, saying, "When I watch things back, I'm like, wow, what iconic moments and girls!" She believes that bringing back the fantasy element of the shows would be "very cool," and is eager to see how the brand will achieve this balance. As the world watches in anticipation, Prinsloo's potential return adds an extra layer of excitement to the highly anticipated event.
