Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey have cemented their status as one of Hollywood's most beloved romantic comedy pairs. Their undeniable chemistry was first showcased in the 2003 classic How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days.
They reunited in 2008 for Fool's Gold, a film that not only entertained audiences but also sparked a peculiar rumor about McConaughey's personal hygiene.
Recently, Kate Hudson addressed this quirky urban legend during her appearance on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen. The rumor in question? That Hudson had insisted McConaughey wear deodorant while filming Fool's Gold. Andy Cohen, known for his direct questions, didn't shy away from asking Hudson about it.
When Cohen read the fan question, Hudson's response was swift and clear. "No," she stated firmly. "He doesn't wear deodorant," she continued, before dropping another surprising detail about herself. "And by the way, I don't either," she admitted.
Hudson explained that the supposed smell was simply because they were often in close proximity. "My thing was I could smell him from a mile because we were so close," she said. "We're au naturals."
The conversation didn't end there. Hudson also revealed that both she and McConaughey are open to the idea of reprising their roles in a sequel to How to Lose a Guy in 10 Days. However, she emphasized that the script's quality would be the determining factor.
"All that matters would be the script and if Matthew and I were into the script," she explained. "I think we're both totally open, but it just never has happened."
The enduring appeal of Hudson and McConaughey as a rom-com duo cannot be overstated. Their chemistry is palpable, and their performances continue to resonate with audiences years after their films' releases.
Whether it's their natural charm, comedic timing, or the authenticity they bring to their roles, they have become synonymous with the romantic comedy genre.
Despite Hudson's clarification, the urban legend about McConaughey's deodorant habits is likely to persist. After all, Hollywood loves a good story, especially one involving its most charismatic stars.
Hudson's candidness about her own hygiene preferences only adds to the lore, making it a memorable anecdote for fans and media alike.
